Introduction to 3D Modeling in Blender Environment with Cody Riffle
Blender is a completely free and amazingly powerful open-source 3D creation suite. It supports the entirety of the 3D pipeline—modeling, rigging, animation, simulation, rendering, compositing and motion tracking, even video editing and game creation.
This will be a level 0 introduction to the 3D modeling environment of Blender. The course is geared towards adults and young adults 15+ (allotments can be made for younger people if their parent is also taking the class, or the child displays an aptitude and maturity).
The course will go over the very basics of how to navigate the 3D environment with mouse and keyboard controls, as well as the differences between the Object and Edit modes. Through this course, participants will learn the very basics of designing 3D shapes with an emphasis on workflow for 3D printing and Laser Cutting/Engraving.
If time allows, we will get into the Boolean modifier and how to use it to combine and cut shapes. This course is the first step towards making your ideas into reality.
The course is all done in a digital environment, participants will be allowed to keep whatever they create (optional: bring a USB drive to save your work).
If time allows, 3D printing may be possible for a small materials fee.
